This is a dumb question but if you can clarify as wiki seems to be unclear.

Just had a 'discussion' with another guildee over rune stacking. So to clarify if you have a sleek mask with domination +1 (stacking) can you add a rune of domination (eg minor) (non-stacking) to obtain in the case of a minor rune +2.

This 'discussion' was about the inherent nature of the armor vs a rune. I thought it wasn't possible to stack these but attributes have gone up 2 points.

Your thoughts appreciated.

If you have a Mask/Helm with a +1 to Domination and you add a minor rune +1 it will be a +2 to you attributes. You can add the +1 rune to ANY armor piece to get the overall +2 bonus. Also if you add a +1 Dom rune to a chest piece then add another +1 Dom rune to you legs piece you will only get a +1 overall bonus. The only rune that will stack is the one on the Helm.

Edit: You can only use runes of your primary profession. A mesmer cant get attributes from a Ele rune but will loose the HP if its a major/Sup rune.

Anything that says "stacking" means that that attribute/bonus can be further increased through runes, insignias weapon/shield mods, etc...

non-stacking means it will not stack with the bonus from another rune of the same kind only. Any attribute increases from other sources such as candy corn, mask or the +1 20% weapon mod will stack with the rune bonus.

So, Vitae runes and Survivor insignias will stack with vigor because they are different runes. vitae will stack with vitae because they are a stacking rune. But vigor will not stack with vigor.

Thanks all. I was wondering and was obviously wrong.

Didn't think stacking and non stacking could stack. Nice to have confirmation.

And yes it is for my mesmer and only in relation to the mask as I know they don't stack across all pieces.
